- In this step you will select your cutting. The best cuttings are the most vigorous, new growth. They are usually the end of the branches, or the top of the plant. Depending on the type of plant that you are cloning, you will want to choose your size appropriately. Some plants will take large cuttings, and some will take small cuttings. The poha berry is one that will take a medium size cutting.
